www.FindMeOn.com

October 31st, 2006 by bhoppe

Securely and openly link, track, and manage your online identities.

Findmeon.com solves a problem that many have today. What if you had a place where you could go to find out how to contact anyone on any number of services? You could find them on gmail. Or locate their Flickr account. Or even check out their del.icio.us bookmarks. That’s what this site is designed to do. Create badges, do shout-outs, and locate your friends. A great place to do all of this and more!

www.zoho.com

October 12th, 2006 by hodedofome

A free online office-suite similar to Microsoft Office, Zoho offers a free online writing application, spreadsheet, powerpoint, CRM, database creator, project managment, planner, chat, polling and candidate evaluation. Some utilities and applications are free up to a number of users or other criteria and may have a charge over that, but otherwise this is an excellent alternative to Office.

Futurephone.com - Free International Calls

October 12th, 2006 by hodedofome

So here’s the deal, you call a phone number in the US listed on the website, when the gateway answers, enter 011 then the country code and number you want to reach (mobile users, do not hit SEND - the call will go through on it’s own). For Canada dial 1 plus the area code and number. That’s it! No gimmicks or catch as far as we can tell. The site says they hope the service will stay free for at least three years, so dial away.  As long as you have free long distance for calls in the US you’re good to go.

Traineo.com

October 12th, 2006 by hodedofome

Traineo.com goes by the idea that motivation for getting in shape and losing weight is best done by your family and friends. It sends your progress to 4 of your friends/family members and they encourage you, keep you accountable and most of all motivate you to keep going. I’m a stick, and also exercise lazy, so I have no need for this site yet, but I will one day.

Convert your music/movie/picture/document, etc files to a host of other formats, online, for free. A very easy way to convert your files to work on your iPod or cell phone. I successfully converted some mp3’s I had so they could work on my phone. A great site!

www.phishtank.com

October 6th, 2006 by hodedofome

This new site allows users to submit links to their database and check to see if they are phishing sites. You can also search the links others have posted to see if they check out. Very helpful for when you get those Paypal and eBay emails…

http://osswin.sourceforge.net/

Another list of open-source programs to download. This one has much more content than opensourcewindows.org, however it doesn’t look pretty. It is an excellent directory of programs, however.

www.vitalstatistics.info

All the statistics you ever wanted to know about, and plenty more that you didn’t…this site is full of them. From animals to the government and everything in between, this site has the stats for ya. You DID want to know the date on which American automobile factories stopped producing cars for 3 1/2 years, right?

www.yelp.com

October 5th, 2006 by hodedofome

A new site which allows you to review and read reviews of things in your area - restaurants, entertainment, organizations, schools, whatever. It tries to be just as much of a community site as a review site. If enough people get in there and review stuff it could turn out to be an excellent source of information for where you live.

www.findsounds.com

October 5th, 2006 by hodedofome

It does just what the name says. Find all kinds of sounds you can imagine. Animals, cars, gadgets, you name it. I guess if I was a radio DJ or a video editor I would go here more often, but it’s cool nonetheless.

Foodieview.com is “the recipe search engine.” If you need a recipe I’ve found this is the best place to search for it, results are quick and relevant, and most importantly the recipes are good.

BaseballRace.com is a site that allows you to view any Major League Baseball season, split by league or division (even wild card races), as an animated, date-by-date race between the various teams you choose. Whoever thought of this is pure genious!
